Egypt second favorite tourist destination for Serbian citizens

Egypt’s Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Affairs Ghada Shalaby on Saturday received the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Cairo Jojoslaw Lee Vukadinovic and a member of the Serbian Parliament Palma Markovic to discuss enhancing cooperation with Egypt and Serbia in tourism, with Markovic stating that Egypt is the second favorite tourist destination for Serbians after Greece.

Shalaby reviewed the Egyptian government’s efforts to support the tourism sector, including all precautionary measures and protocols for the gradual return of tourism following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Markovic touched on the depth of Egyptian-Serbian relations, which he sees represents a good opportunity for Egyptian tourist destinations to attract more Serbians given its popularity there.

Shalaby and Markovic also discussed the possibility of organizing tourist trips for several famous Serbian doctors to visit Egypt during the coming period, in addition to the possibility of organizing student trips to the Red Sea linked to visits to Luxor and Aswan.

Shalabi previously paid a promotional visit to Serbia in December 2020 to advertise Egypt’s tourist destinations, as part of the ministry’s strategy to attract more tourist traffic to Egypt from promising tourist markets such as Serbia.
