Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi stressed that, amid the unprecedented challenges facing the region, the war in Gaza continues to devastate everything and claim tens of thousands of lives in a shameful humanitarian tragedy that will forever scar history.
Egypt stands as an impregnable barrier against any attempts to liquidate the Palestinian cause, he stressed, affirming that the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip must be carried out in accordance with the Arab-Islamic plan without any form of displacement.
During his speech marking the 43rd anniversary of the Liberation of Sinai, President Sisi said, “We reaffirm that a just and comprehensive peace will only be achieved through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, in accordance with international legitimacy.”
He noted that from the outset, Egypt’s position was clear and unambiguous, calling for a ceasefire, the release of hostages and detainees, and the provision of adequate humanitarian aid.
Sisi also rejected any displacement of Palestinians from their land, in order to preserve their legitimate rights and safeguard Egypt’s national security.
“History bears witness that the peace between Egypt and Israel, achieved through US mediation, is a model to be emulated for ending conflicts and retaliatory tendencies, and for consolidating peace and stability,” he said.
He continued, “Today, we say with one voice that a just peace is the option that everyone should strive for. In this regard, we look forward to the international community, led by the US, and US President Donald Trump in particular, playing the expected role.”
President Sisi pointed out that defending Sinai and protecting every inch of the nation’s land is an irrevocable pledge and a firm principle in the faith of all Egyptians, ingrained in the nation’s conscience for generation after generation.
The President saluted the Egyptian people, adding, “With your sober vision and deep understanding of the magnitude of the challenges facing Egypt and the region, you have proven that you are a cohesive internal front, impervious to manipulation and influence.”
