Egypt, Iraq FMs denounce Israeli crimes against Gazans

CAIRO/DOHA, Sept 14 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein have condemned Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, pointing to the direct threat they pose to regional security.

This announcement was made during a meeting held by the two foreign ministers on Sunday, on the sidelines of a preparatory ministerial meeting for an emergency Arab-Islamic summit in the Qatari capital, Doha, according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry.

The two ministers commended the growing development of bilateral relations in recent years at all levels, stressing their commitment to building on the tangible results achieved within the framework of the Egyptian-Iraqi Higher Committee.

They also reiterated their keenness on promoting cooperation in the economic, trade, and investment fields in a manner that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples.

They emphasized the importance of proceeding with close coordination to address regional challenges and support stability in the region.

The two foreign ministers also affirmed their full solidarity with the sisterly State of Qatar in confronting the recent Israeli aggression against its territory and emphasized their rejection of any violation of the sovereignty of Arab states.

On that score, they stressed that the only way to end the cycle of conflict and achieve real peace in the region is to reach a comprehensive and just settlement of the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution.

They also described the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the June 4, 1967 borders with Al Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital, as a pillar for achieving security and stability in the Middle East. (MENA)
