Egypt installs thermal scanners at Rafah Crossing to detect coronavirus

Upping its level of readiness against the coronavirus, North Sinai has installed scanners on the Rafah border crossing in cooperation with the Health Affairs Directorate and the relevant services directorates.

The head of North Sinai’s Health Directorate Tarek Shouka said that five thermal scanners have been installed at Rafah border crossing alongside trained medical teams.

Governor of North Sinai Mohamed Abdel Fadeel Shosha instructed that all preventive measures be taken, and canceled vacations for workers at the preventive medicine sector.

He also instructed checking the equipment at the Bir Al-Abd Central Hospital quarantine, and ensure that infection control supplies are being provided.

All precautionary measures against the coronavirus have been taken in line with international health regulations approved by the World Health Organization, Shouka announced.

Shouka also mentioned a pre-emptive plan to deal with the virus and screen passengers at ports before they enter the country.
