Approximately 450 French travel agents are expected to participate in the French Travel Agents Union conference, hosted from 22-26 January in Luxor.
Amr al-Ezabi, head of the Tourism Activation Authority, said that hosting the conference in Egypt will promote the country as a tourist market, especially as France is a significant supplier of tourists to Egypt.
In 2009, around half a million French tourists visited Egypt, he said.
The planned program will take the travel agents to the most notable landmarks and monuments in Luxor, and a closing ceremony will be held at the Temple of Habo on the western bank of Luxor.
In a statement on Sunday, al-Ezabi said his authority hopes to hold several similar conferences in Egypt, and has already hosted Italian and German travel agents in Port Ghalib, Marsa Alam.
