International Cooperation Minister Rania al-Mashat discussed with Hong Kong Finance Minister Paul Chan Mo-po ways of enhancing cooperation based on the State’s development priorities as well as stimulating green finance tools.
The meeting took place during the minister’s participation in the Belt and Road Initiative summit in Hong Kong on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the initiative’s launch, according to a press release by the International Cooperation Ministry.
The two sides discussed the Egyptian government’s desire to expand cooperation with Hong Kong under the initiative, development in Egyptian-Chinese relations since the signing of a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement in 2014 and steps taken by the Egyptian government to enhance cooperation with BRICS countries.
Mashat referred to Egypt’s hosting of the upcoming annual meetings of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, a move that will buttress its partnership with multilateral banks and push for more comprehensive partnerships.
