The Ministry of Health and Population announced that Egypt has crossed the epidemiological curve of the third wave of the pandemic, as a result of citizen awareness and vaccinations provided by the government which starkly dropped new case numbers.
Those coming to Egypt will be allowed to enter the country without a smear test, the ministry added, provided that they have received the two doses of vaccination and 14 days have passed since obtaining the second dose.
However those coming from countries with mutated strains of coronavirus will be subject to more accurate procedures.
The Ministry of Health stated the manufacturing of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine is yet another success from the Egyptian state in managing its coronavirus crisis by settling vaccine technology in VACSERA’s factories.
Production stages have started, it said, and by the end of this month the first produced quantities will be obtained in preparation for to supply 40 million doses of the Chinese vaccine.
Egypt’s Health Ministry on Friday confirmed 412 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 279,596.
The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 16,031 nationwide, after the ministry announced 29 deaths.
And 765 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising Egypt’s total number of fully-recovered cases to 208,957.
The ministry reported in mid-May that it has vaccinated 1.3 million people since its campaign began on January 24, and over five million have registered on the ministry’s website for the jab.
Egypt is currently using China’s Sinopharm vaccine and the UK’s AstraOxford vaccine, and has plans to soon begin locally manufacturing China’s Sinovac vaccine and Russia’s Sputnik-V.
