Minister of State for Information Diaa Rashwan said Egypt maintains deep historical and strategic ties with Arab Gulf countries, stressing that these relations go beyond economic and political cooperation and are supported by the Egyptian constitution.
Speaking at a press conference held by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and attended by several ministers, Rashwan said the recent increase in prices of some petroleum products was taken under exceptional circumstances driven by regional and global developments in energy markets.
He explained that the government had originally planned not to adjust prices until the end of the year following the last increase in October, but global changes forced a temporary and exceptional decision to maintain economic stability and secure energy supplies.
Rashwan also said authorities had monitored social media accounts attacking Gulf countries and found that many were not Egyptian. He noted that such accounts aim to spread misinformation and create confusion about Egyptian identity while attempting to damage long-standing relations with Arab states, particularly Gulf nations.
He added that the government closely monitors information circulating on digital platforms, and urged media professionals and public figures to verify the accuracy of information before publishing it.
Rashwan stressed that Egypt rejects any offense against Arab countries and reaffirmed the importance of protecting strong relations with Gulf nations.
