The Egyptian handball team, led by Spanish coach Juan Carlos Pastor, defeated its Hungarian counterpart on Saturday with a score of 35-32 in its opening match in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The first half ended with a score of 19-15 in favor of the Pharaohs, thanks to a remarkable performance from goalkeeper Mohamed Ali and players Yehia el-Deraa, Yehia Khaled and Ahmed Adel.
The team list includes: Karim Hendawy, Mohamed Ali, Omar al-Wakil, Ali Zein, Ahmed Hisham Dodo, Abdel-Rahman Faisal, Saif al-Deraa, Mohab Saeed, Mohamed Sanad, Akram Youssef, Ibrahim al-Masry, Ahmed Adel and Mohamed Tarek.
Egypt’s handball team will play in the Paris Olympics in Group Two alongside France, Denmark, Norway, Hungary, and Argentina.
The Egyptian handball team qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games for the eighth time in its history of participation in the Olympic Games, having participated seven times before in 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2016, and 2020.
