The Head of the Egyptian Tourism Authority Amr al-Kady on Monday discussed the details behind allowing a Canadian family to visit Egypt and allowing them to tour its various archaeological sites, such as the Giza Pyramids.
Kady explained that the invitation came in response to the wish of the family, which includes three children who are threatened with blindness due to a rare disease.
During a phone in with TV host Youssef al-Husseini on his show “Ninth” on Channel One of state-TV, Kady said that this is a “humanitarian case, and there is international sympathy with them.”
He added, “Six months ago, we learned of the wish of the Canadian family, which has three children who are threatened with blindness, to visit Egypt and see the Egyptian archaeological sites.”
Kady continued, “We contacted the Canadian family and invited them to visit Egypt, and they felt very happy.”
He concluded that an integrated tourism program was implemented in Cairo, Luxor and Aswan for the Canadian family, to their joy.
