Egypt’s Tourism Minister Khaled Ramy has announced that the country is targeting 354 million hotel rooms to house 34 million tourists this year, 14 million more tourists than the original prediction of 20 million.
According to the minister, current tourism activity signals a positive and gradual move upward, which he said would hopefully restore the 2010 peak incoming tourist numbers.
Egypt’s tourism sector, one of the country’s main sources of national income, has suffered from security and political instability resulting from two popular uprisings in 2011 and 2013.
