Egypt exports up 22% in September

Egyptian exports are valued at LE12.2 billion this September, a rise of 22 percent (LE10 billion) compared with the same period in 2009.

A report by the Central Auditing Organization (CAO) released on Wednesday indicates a rise in the value of some commodities such as petroleum products, ready-to-wear clothes, pastries, dairies, and miscellaneous food products.

It also pointed to a 24.5 percent value growth in imports, represented by an increase from LE18.8 billion in September 2009 to LE23.4 billion this September.

The deficit in the trade balance surged from LE8.8 billion in September 2009 to LE11.2 billion this September, an increase of 27.3 percent, according to the CAO report.
