The Egyptian Cabinet’s Information Center has categorically denied rumors circulating on social media and in certain media outlets regarding the government’s alleged intention to sell the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). The center emphasized that the museum remains under state ownership.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Information Center clarified that recent claims about the sale of the museum, linked to the three-year restructuring of the museum’s board of trustees, are entirely false and baseless.
These claims, the statement asserted, are merely attempts to sow discord and spread misinformation among the public. The government remains steadfast in its commitment to preserving all Egyptian antiquities and cultural heritage.
Furthermore, the Information Center provided an update on the ongoing preparations for the GEM’s grand opening. It was announced that a consensus will soon be reached on the official opening date, and various procedures and steps necessary for this historic event will be initiated.
