Egypt denies EgyptAir sale rumors

The Egyptian government has stated that some newspapers, websites, and social media platforms have circulated news regarding the government’s intention to sell EgyptAir and finalize technical studies and a timeline for offering a number of its subsidiaries for management and operation.

The Media Center of the Council of Ministers confirmed that it had contacted the Ministry of Civil Aviation, which denied these reports, affirming that this information is unfounded and that the government has no intention of selling the company or offering any of its subsidiaries for management and operation.

The ministry explained that EgyptAir is a national company and one of the state’s main arms in the air transport system and is one of the most important pillars supporting the national economy, explaining that the Egyptian state is implementing a comprehensive strategy centered on developing EgyptAir, modernizing its fleet, and expanding its network of air routes by opening new markets.

The Media Center emphasized that, “We call on all media outlets and social media users to exercise accuracy and objectivity in publishing news and to verify its accuracy before publishing it so as not to cause confusion among citizens, and the need to rely on facts and refer to official data issued by the Ministry of Civil Aviation to ensure obtaining the correct information.”
