The Cairo Criminal Court on Sunday held the second trial session for the suspect behind the murder of three Egyptians during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar on 2023.
The perpetrator fled Qatar and was arrested at Cairo International Airport, and then confessed to the crime. The referral order came after reviewing the papers and the investigations that were carried out.
The suspect was charged with murder using a knife.
The referral order explained that these felonies were coupled with several other crimes – including the premeditated murder of the third victim, after the defendant feared that he might expose the killing of the first two victims.
For this purpose, he prepared the same bladed weapon used to kill the first two, lurked outside his house and carried out the murder.
The referral order added that the perpetrator of the two crimes also aimed to steal movables owned by the victims, by seizing their mobile phones and laptop computers.
