Egypt condemned statements attributed to US ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, describing them a flagrant breach of international law and the UN Charter, and reaffirmed its strong stance on the Palestinian cause.
In a statement issued by the foreign ministry, Egypt denounced remarks reportedly made by the ambassador during a TV interview, which included claims regarding Israel’s alleged right to lands belonging to Arab states.
Cairo said such statements contradict the vision put forward by US President Donald Trump and the relevant points aiming at ending the war in Gaza, as well as discussions held during the Board of Peace conference in Washington on Feb. 19.
Egypt reiterated that Israel holds no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories or any other Arab lands, firmly rejecting any attempts to annex the West Bank, separate it from the Gaza Strip, or expand settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories.
