The foreign ministry's spokesperson said that Egypt condemns Israel's air raids on different parts of Gaza on Sunday evening, which left dozens killed and wounded.
He added that Egypt rejects all acts of violence that lead to losses in civilian lives from both sides.
The spokesperson also said that Egypt calls for restraint and a stop of revenge attacks and collective punishment.
Israel launched air raids on several Hamas targets, which controls the Gaza Strip, in response to Hamas firing rockets at Israel.
Tensions have recently escalated between Israel and Hamas after Israel accused Hamas of kidnapping three Israeli teenagers who were later found dead.
A Palestinian boy was also killed, which Israel explained as a revenge attack by Israeli settlers.
