Egypt celebrates third Arab-Hispanic Women Film Festival

Seventeen films from a women’s perspective will be screened at the Center of Creativity on the premises of the Opera House from 17 to 21 May.

The films are part of the Among Filmmakers caravan, a cinema exchange program between Arab and Hispanic women with the aim of creating an information and collaboration network as well as establishing a dialogue, a tool of self expression that deviates from the common stereotype of women.

In its third round, the festival showcases films from Egypt, Spain, Palestine, Tunisia, Mexico, Jordan, Syria, Sudan, Argentina, and Cuba and will feature the outcome of a one-minute film workshop, showing unedited one-minute films created by women with no prior knowledge of film making.

The festival, a joint project between Egyptian production company Klaketa Arabe and the Spanish Culture Association, will run for five successive days in Cairo.
