Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs announced on Monday that it has canceled pre-visas currently applied to Canadian citizens traveling to Egypt, with the availability of obtaining a visa upon arrival at Egyptian ports of entry.
It added that it has reactivated the option to apply and obtain an electronic visa (E-VISA).
These procedures are scheduled to be implemented starting from December 1 for all Canadian citizens arriving in Egypt starting from then.
This decision comes to follow up on what was recently agreed upon during the meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdel-Aati, and Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Egypt and Canada will celebrate the seventieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between them this year.
The decision to cancel the pre-entry visas applied to Canadian citizens comes from the joint desire to develop all aspects of cooperation and work towards further facilitation by all available means for the citizens of the two countries, including Egyptian-Canadian citizens.
