Egypt called on Sunday for calm and avoiding any measures that could trigger off tensions in Cyprus on back of the attack on UN peacekeeping mission in the buffer zone that divides the Turkish Cypriot north and Greek Cypriot south.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry underlined the importance of respecting the UN mission and relevant UNSC resolutions, calling for avoiding acts that could worsen the situation further more and change the status quo.
Egypt also called for returning to the political track to find a comprehensive settlement to the Cypriot issue in accordance with UNSC resolutions, the statement read.
