Egypt's General Authority for Supply Commodities (GASC) said on Sunday it had bought 57,200 tons of rice from the local market through a tender.
Nomani Nomani, vice chairman of GASC, told Reuters the price range was 2,000-2,230 Egyptian pounds (US$360.9-US$402.4) per ton.
The quantity was due to be supplied to consumers under the subsidy program between Sept. 9-30.
In its latest tender on Aug. 3, GASC bought 80,000 tons of rice from the domestic market at 1,979 pounds per ton.
