President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has discussed with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko the recent developments in several areas, as well as ways of fostering bilateral cooperation.
The talks occurred in two sessions, one session for the two presidents alone, while the other session included delegations from the two countries. The two presidents signed nine agreements in all, covering the military, cultural, sports, economic and industrial fields.
Sisi said that Lukashenko’s visit — which coincides with the 25th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between the two countries — shows interests to promote cooperation and friendship ties.
He indicated Belarus' supportive stances toward Egypt during critical moments of its history. “We agreed on the necessity to treat the roots of crises in the Middle East in a way that guarantees unity and safety of the region’s countries as well as their stability,” Sisi said, stressing the necessity to unify international efforts against terrorism.
Meanwhile, Lukashenko said his country supports the policies adopted by Egypt in the Middle East. He reiterated his country's support for Egypt at all regional and international events.
