Egypt, Bahrain reiterate firm position on Palestinian issue

CAIRO, Sept 3 (MENA) – Egypt and Bahrain reaffirmed their firm position on the Palestinian cause, which is based on supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state within the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Both sides stressed the need to respond to efforts aimed at ending the war, implementing an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and ensuring the release of hostages and detainees.

In a joint statement issued on the occasion of the visit of Bahraini Crown Pince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa to Egypt, the two sides underscored the importance of providing protection for the Palestinian people.

They also underlined the need that Israel complies with international humanitarian law, including guaranteeing the safe and urgent delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza to confront the humanitarian catastrophe and famine facing the population there.

Both sides reaffirmed their rejection and condemnation of any attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their land under any pretext.

The statement also highlighted Egypt’s appreciation for Bahrain’s continued support of the Arab-Islamic plan for early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza.

Egypt said it is looking forward to Bahrain’s participation in the “Cairo International Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction of Gaza,” to be held in cooperation with the Palestinian Authority and the United Nations once a ceasefire agreement is reached.

Egypt and Bahrain further affirmed that the security of Bahrain is an integral part of Egypt’s national security, stressing the importance of addressing the current security and political challenges in the region and working to resolve regional crises through dialogue and political solutions.

They also expressed their determination to enhance coordination, particularly in light of the rapid developments in the Middle East, while emphasizing the importance of supporting regional stability, safeguarding territorial integrity, and preserving the institutions of nation states.

Within the framework of the historic bonds and deep fraternal relations between Egypt and Bahrain, and in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa of Bahrain to strengthen bilateral relations across all fields, President Sisi on Tuesday received the Bahraini crown prince, who arrived in Egypt on an official visit heading a high-level delegation.

The Crown Prince conveyed to President Sisi the greetings of King Hamad along with his wishes of continued progress and prosperity for Egypt’s leadership and people.

President Sisi also urged the Bahraini crown prince to convey his greetings to the Bahraini monarch and his wishes of lasting stability and prosperity for the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Prince Salman expressed appreciation for the distinguished strategic relations between the two countries, which are built on solid foundations of brotherhood and mutual respect.

The Crown Prince also praised Egypt’s pivotal role in supporting Arab causes and affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to continue strengthening cooperation with Egypt and opening new horizons across various fields, in line with the aspirations of the Egyptian and Bahraini peoples for progress, prosperity, and sustainable development.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli also received the Bahraini Crown Prince and held an expanded session of talks attended by a number of ministers, senior officials, and business representatives from both countries.

The discussions focused on ways to further strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in economic, trade, investment, and development fields.

Both sides praised the work of the Egyptian-Bahraini Joint Governmental Committee for Trade, Economic, and Scientific Cooperation and the memoranda of understanding signed in a range of sectors, including economy, tourism, finance, commerce, investment, culture, and technology.

They highlighted the committee’s role as an effective mechanism that provides strong momentum by identifying priority areas of cooperation for both countries.

The two sides also welcomed the outcomes of the Business Forum held on the sidelines of the visit, which serves as an effective link between the business communities of both countries, as well as the field visits conducted by the Bahraini business delegation.

The Egyptian side congratulated Bahrain on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term, noting that this reflects the Kingdom’s international standing and active role in promoting global peace and security.

Egypt also expressed confidence in Bahrain’s ability to represent the Arab Group at the Security Council and to defend key Arab issues at the United Nations, foremost among them the Palestinian cause. (MENA)
