Egypt: Attack on Qatar is a “blatant violation,” demands UN action

Ambassador Osama Abdel Khalek, Egypt’s representative to the United Nations, stated that “Egypt affirms its standing with the sisterly State of Qatar in dealing with the Israeli aggression.”

Speaking at an emergency session of the UN Security Council, Abdel Khalek considered the Israeli aggression on Qatar to be an indication of the party hindering the de-escalation in the Gaza Strip and the region. He called for intensified efforts to stop Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and cease settlement activities in the occupied West Bank.

The Egyptian envoy to the UN emphasized the need for the international community to take strict measures regarding Israel’s actions. “We demand that the Security Council take an effective stance against Israel’s actions in the region,” he said, adding that “Qatar is not alone in dealing with the brutal Israeli aggression on its sovereignty.”

He also affirmed Egypt’s role in supporting the Palestinian people, stating, “Our position is firm on the necessity of saving them from the Israeli genocide in the Gaza Strip.”

The Ambassador concluded his statement by stressing that the security of Qatar is part of the security of Egypt and the entire Arab region.
