Egypt called on the UN's International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to send an expert to review the technical conditions of the nuclear plant planned in the North Coast town of Dabaa.
Minister of Electricity Hassan Younis said the ministry and Egypt's nuclear authority is asking the IAEA to review the plans and site as a precaution in light of what happened to the Fukushima nuclear power plant following Japan's earthquake and tsunami.
Japan has around 57 nuclear reactors, several of which were badly damaged by the disasters.
