Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received a phone call on Wednesday afternoon from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
The spokesperson for Egypt’s presidency Bassam Rady said the talks discussed the developments of some regional issues of common interest, especially the situation in Libya.
Both sides agreed on strengthening the relevant Egyptian-Algerian coordination frameworks to help achieve the desired central goal of supporting Libyan state institutions, and all efforts to achieve Libya’s security and stability.
Rady explained that the Algerian president expressed his sincere appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality during his recent visit to Egypt, which involved many activities and fruitful discussions between the two sides.
Tebboune visited last Egypt on January 25.
He assured in Algeria’s pride in the close and distinguished ties it has with Egypt, and its interest in intensifying bilateral cooperation and coordination in all fields – especially in the economy and security.
President Sisi meanwhile expressed his joy in the Algerian president’s last visit, calling him a dear guest to his country.
Egypt is looking forward to advancing bilateral cooperation between both nations, Sisi said, especially with regard to strengthening channels of communication between the two countries in regards to the economy, maximizing the volume of trade exchange and increasing inter-investment.
Sisi referred to preparations for holding the next session of the joint higher committee with the two prime ministers as soon as possible, as well as strengthening security and military cooperation between both nations.
