The President of the Egyptian Football Association, Gamal Allam, confirmed in televised Tuesday statements that Liverpool FC star Mohamed Salah will join the Egyptian national team camp in June once he regains full health.
Salah is currently absent from the Egyptian national team camp at the request of the Liverpool star due to a lack of readiness.
He had participated in the Reds’ recent matches after recovering from an injury that kept him out of the stadiums for about a month.
Allam explained that the Pharaohs will play two matches in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup against Burkina Faso and Guinea Bissau.
He added: “The most important thing for us is that Salah’s readiness is complete, so that he can be present in the upcoming official engagements, which winning them means getting closer to 80 percent of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.”
The Egyptian national team is preparing to compete in the friendly Egypt Capital Cup tournament within FIFA series.
The Egyptian national team, led by its new coach Hossam Hassan, will play the opening match of the friendly tournament against New Zealand on Friday.
The Egyptian national team occupies the top spot in Group A of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup with 6 points after winning the first two rounds over Djibouti and Sierra Leone.
