The Egyptian Coalition on the Rights of the Child (ECRC) has said it will sue the Education Ministry following an incident at the Omar Dahshan primary school in Fayoum, which resulted in a boy losing an eye.
The ECRC is accusing the ministry of failing to ensure the children's safety while in school.
ECRC Secretary General Hany Hilal said he had submitted a memo at the beginning of the school year to the minister, warning him of such accidents.
“The buildings are not maintained. There is violence between the children. And there is violence by the teachers,” he said. “All this is a result of negligence on the part of the ministry.”
