Boston is installing solar powered "smart" benches in its public spaces. The design behing the "Soofa" say it's the bench of the future, giving park goers a comfortable seating area that doubles as a mobile phone charges, Reuters stated.
And the benches won't stop there. According to Daily Tech website that also reported on "smart" benches, "They will also collect air quality samples and data on noise levels."
“Your cell phone doesn’t just make phone calls, why should our benches just be seats?” Daily Tech added. “We are fortunate to have talented entrepreneurs and makers in Boston thinking creatively about sustainability and the next generation of amenities for our residents.”
