Dutch ambassador to Cairo says Netherlands interested in Suez Canal development project

In remarks on Sunday, Dutch Ambassador to Cairo Gerard Steeghs expressed his country’s interest in the Suez Canal development project.
 
He stressed that the Netherlands has much to offer in terms of experience in logistics and maritime fields through constructing, maintenance and running harbors and industrial zones near from them as well as logistics activities in trade and industry fields.
 
Steeghs added that a Dutch engineering company has drawn the main plan for East Port Said area. He said that Netherlands ranked the fifth place among European countries that have investments in Egypt and the tenth across the world during the 2012-2013 fiscal year.
 
Total Dutch investments in Egypt, according to Steeghs reached US$2.5 billion between the years 1970 and 2013. It ranked the sixth place in the foreign investments lists in fields of agriculture, horticultural crops, water, transportation, logistics, petrol and natural gas.
