Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival “D-CAF” kicks off on October 12

The Downtown Contemporary Arts Festival (D-CAF), the largest international contemporary festival in the Arab region, will be held in downtown Cairo from October 12 to November 5 in its eleventh edition.

This session features 30 diverse performances, ranging from performing arts to media arts, modern music and special events.

These events include contemporary art performances, meetings, and visual arts exhibitions distinguished by their creative ideas, keeping technologically up-to-date, and the ability to interact with the audience, as presented by 80 artists from 14 countries.

This year, the program also includes the “International Forum for Contemporary Arab Arts” in its eighth session, in what is promised to be its most diverse and intense edition since the beginning of the forum.

The Artistic director of the festival Ahmed al-Attar explained: “This edition of D-CAF is distinguished by its various Arab performances, as a large portion of them, especially those participating in the International Forum for Contemporary Arab Arts, will be shown for the first time globally.”

He added that some of them will be shown for the first time in the Arab region, calling them “professional and unique performances.”

Another prominent feature of the D-CAF Festival is the presence of a large number of programmers and their interest in the participating shows, as over 50 programmers from around the world attend to watch the shows in each edition.

The festival program in this edition includes four free workshops in various fields, including an augmented reality art workshop, a workshop in interactive audiovisual arts, a workshop in experimental drama, and a workshop in theatrical directing.

D-CAF is the only festival of its kind in Egypt dedicated to several forms of contemporary arts and continues for three weeks every year, in several places in Cairo’s Downtown.

The festival includes performing arts, alongside theatrical, visual, musical, and digital shows.
