Dostour plans anti-Ikhwan event in Morsy’s hometown

Egypt’s liberal Dostour Party has announced it will host an anti-Muslim Brotherhood event in the birthplace of President Mohamed Morsy on Thursday.

The event, led by the Ikhwan Kazeboon (“Lying Brotherhood”) campaign, will be held in Hehya City in Sharqiya governorate, where Morsy was born in 1951.

Dostour organisers will screen a short film and present data collected from across the city to expose Brotherhood and Freedom and Justice Party policies deemed to be a failure.

The opposition Tamarod campaign will reportedly join Ikhwan Kazeboon in Hehya, collecting signatures for its anti-government petition, campaign coordinator Ahmed Gamal said in a statement on Wednesday.

Gamal added that Tamarod will be collecting signatures at 3 different spots in Hehya City.

Organisers have claimed the event forms part of efforts to mobilize ahead of planned 30 June mass protests, which have called for early presidential elections.

Ikhwan Kazeboon rejects the policies of the Muslim Brotherhood and its perceived attempts to control the Egyptian state.
