Does Respiratory syncytial virus require halting school? An Egyptian official answers.

The head of the Scientific Committee to Combat Coronavirus Hossam Hosni spoke about the virus that is spreading among children in schools, stressing the need to conduct smears, to identify whether it is the coronavirus or the Respiratory syncytial virus.

During a telephone interview with al-Mehwar channel, Hosni said that it is necessary for those infected to rest and take precautionary measures.

He added: “There are RSV infections, and the basis for treatment of this virus is rest, adherence to precautionary measures with proper nutrition, and good ventilation… and if the child is tired, it is better not to go to school so as not to infect others.”

Hosni stressed the need for caution, adding that there is no reason to halt studying, as the matter is not alarming.

He continued, “There is no need to go to the pharmacy and take medicines without referring to a specialized doctor.”
