Doctors Syndicate has said it’s investigating the death of a child at a privately-owned hospital in Nasr City, one day after she was prescribed the wrong drug by an employee of the hospital, who impersonated a doctor.

Nasr City police station received on Saturday a report from the family of the one-year old victim, treated in Tabakak hospital. They had been received by a person who presented himself as Doctor Mohamed Eid, who informed them that the girl should stay at the hospital, but that her mother is not allowed to accompany her. The family was in communication with him to be reassured about the girl’s condition. On the following day, they were shocked to find out about her death.

The syndicate said that the person who received the family was a hospital employee, a lawyer, who impersonated a doctor. Since the specialist was abent, the girl was prescribed the wrong medicine.
