Doctors Syndicate donate LE3000 to families of those killed in Egypt’s uprising

Egypt's Doctors Syndicate will provide the families of martyrs killed in the 25 January uprising with LE3000 each, according to the syndicate's humanitarian relief committee secretary, Abdel Kader Hegazy.

Hegazy announced that the syndicate has already started to disburse the amounts allocated. He told reporters on Monday that the source of the donations was ordinary citizens, rather than the syndicate's budget.

Syndicate General Director Mustafa al-Zoghby said the committee has provided medication and surgical tools to Mounira and Bab al-Shaariya hospitals, as well as the Red Crescent, to help treat those injured during the protests.

The widescale pro-democracy protests which bagan on 25 January led to the resignation of former President Hosni Mubarak after 30 years in power. More than 350 people lost their lives in violence surrounding the protests, not including prisoners or policemen who died.
