The Doctors Syndicate called for increasing the allocated budget for health in next year’s state budget up to 3 percent, saying that the Constitution has ordered the restructuring of the health sector as well as the development of governmental hospitals.
The syndicate also slammed the Cabinet for wasting money by building new hospitals without providing them with doctors or staff.
In a statement on Wednesday, the syndicate said that the constitution stipulated that the health sector’s budget should be no less than 3 percent of the national product, which is around 9 percent of the governmental expenditure, referring to the current expenditure on health sector at around 5 percent.
The syndicate is also pressing the Cabinet to involve more parties in the budget allocation and distribution process, including trade union and social community associations who work in the health field.
