Divers call for establishing marine ambulance points in Red Sea

Diving and marine activities workers in the Red Sea called on the competent authorities of the ministries of Tourism and Health and the ambulance authority to quickly establish the proposed marine ambulance points in the city of Marsa Alam and Hurghada in the Red Sea.

This will better serve the marine tourism sector to intervene quickly in the event of any emergency towards visitors, whose number is estimated at about three million tourists annually.

Diving sector workers said that Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly approved the manufacture of six marine ambulance boats to work on the Egyptian coasts in the Red Sea and South Sinai governorates to serve the tourism sector.

The ambulances will receive medical equipment, infection control equipment and first aid through marine ambulance centers in the Red Sea and South Sinai governorates, under the Egyptian ambulance services system.

Two marine ambulance centers are planned to be established to serve the north and south of Hurghada and two other centers to serve the north and south of Marsa Alam.

Marine Ambulance Service is a rapid response service and emergency ambulance services to treat injured or drowned victims in diving accidents at the scene of the accident before transferring them to the hospital if necessary.
