Dar al-Ifta said it issued more than 520,000 religious edicts in 2014 in 10 languages.
In its annual report on Tuesday, Dar al-Ifta said it opened a section for translating the edicts to African languages, adding that all of Dar al-Ifta's clerics, lead by Mufti Shawqi Allam, made huge efforts to preserve discourse to support communication with different cultures.
The report indicated that the World Alliance of Religions in Seoul, South Korea, has selected Allam as the most prominent promoter of peace in the world among 15 other influential religious clerics in Africa. It also highlighted his selection as member of the supreme committee of legislative reform, founded by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, as well as being named by Belgian newspaper La Libre as "person" of their Saturday issue.
Among the most prominent edicts made in 2014, according to the report, dealt with issues relating to transgenderism, real estate finance in non-Muslim countries, Forex trading, terrorist blasts, DNA to prove parentage, donating cornea, alms to develop slums and provide poor villages with water, Suez Canal investment certificates, trading in monuments, selling subsidized wheat, attacking shrines and others.
The report also added that Dar al-Ifta held training sessions for 10 delegations coming from Africa and East Asia to make edicts.
