Damietta Governor Manal Awad Mikhail on Sunday announced that wedding and event venues can resume business starting September 13, given the spaces adhere to operating at 50 percent capacity and uphold social distancing regulations among attendees. The spaces have been closed since March due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Mikhail asked the public to adhere to the guidelines set forth to protect the public from the virus, and assured that the Damietta Governorate would take legal action against anyone not adhering to the prescribed precautions.
The governor asserted that the pandemic deeply affected tourism in Damietta’s Mediterranean resort city Ras el-Bar, prompting her to reopen the venues.
During a phone interview with “al-Tasea”, a TV show on the Egyptian al-Awla (first) channel, Mikhail added that venues not adhering to the health guidelines will be shut down.
Mikhail noted that the police will follow up with venues to ensure the implementation of the preventive measures.
