The Viral Hepatitis Committee will be treating Hepatitis C patients with the Daklinza drug as of Saturday, according to the health minister's advisor Yehia al-Shazly.
Shazly also said that the ministry received 29,000 packs of the drug from the Drug Control Authority for that purpose, with 25,000 more to be delivered next week.
“Patients who register for the drug will receive it within a few days,” he said, adding that advanced cases will be treated with both Daklinza and Sovaldi.
“Patients who have suffered relapses after treatment with Sovaldi will have priority,” Shazly said, adding that the new drug would be locally produced in January.
