An easy, Cairo shopping friendly version of this very filling main dish, Beef Stroganoff can be served with noodles or rice and is a good dish to start preparing from the morning.
Ingredients:
½ kg beef tenderloin cut into strips or square slices
6 mushrooms sliced thinly
1 onion, chopped finely
2 tablespoons of flour
1 beef stock cube
2 cups water
1 tablespoon oregano
pepper and salt to taste
2 tablespoons sour cream
Directions:
1. Cook meat with onion in a tablespoon of oil till brown.
2. In another pan, saute mushrooms in butter, salt and pepper and add garlic (optional).
3. Mix beef stock cube and flour into two cups water and pour over meat.
4. Add in mushrooms once they have browned.
5. Allow to boil, adding pepper and oregano.
6. Leave to simmer on low heat for 20 minutes then cover and put aside till serving time.
7. Fifteen minutes before serving, reheat and stir in sour cream.
