The General Authority of Culture Palaces, headed by Poet Saad Abdel Rahman, will issue a popular edition of deceased Geographer Gamal Hamdan’s book, "The Personality of Egypt," after signing a contract with Hamdan’s brother General Abdel Azim Hamdan. The authority agreed to issue 5,000 copies of the book, which is found in four volumes at LE8 per volume.
The first edition of Hamdan’s book "Personality of Egypt: A Study in the Genius of the Place" was issued in 1967 in 300 pages. Ten years later, the whole book was issued in four volumes between 1981 and 1984.
The book discusses Egypt’s regional personality and how its distinguished geography and environment impacted the development of Egypt's cultural, political and social development. It also discusses the relationship between Egyptians, nature and the Nile, and how this relationship shaped Egyptian civilization.
