Giza Criminal Court decided to postpone the retrial of 15 defendants to October 23. The 15 defendants face charges of mobbing, killing Amr Abdel Nabi and injuring others in front of the embassy of United States in Cairo in 2013 (knowing as the second incident of the US embassy).
The defendants did not attend the trail due to security reasons, said Counselor Osama al-Rashidi at the beginning of the trial.
The Public Prosecution accused the defendants of mobbing, harming the public peace, killing Amr Abdel Nabi, injuring others, damaging public buildings, seizing arms and terrorizing people.
Back to July 2013, clashed erupted between protesters and police forces in the vicinity of US embassy in Cairo following the dispersing of the sit-ins in Rabaa al-Adawya and al-Nahda squares.
Cairo Criminal Court sentenced two defendants to death in 2017 and another 20 defendants to life imprisonment before the Court of Cassation, then abolished the death and life imprisonment sentences in 2018 and decided to set the defendants a new trial.
