The Cairo Court for Urgent Matters postponed, on Tuesday, its verdict to 26 February of a lawsuit pushing for the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas to be designated a terrorist organization.
The court was supposed to issue the ruling on Tuesday but decided to pospone it for the second time as lawyer Samir Sabry, who filed the lawsuit, demanded the postponement in order to file other documents.
Egyptian law permits the court to postpone a verdict three times after the sessions and pleadings are finished.
Sabry had filed a lawsuit to the interim president, prime minister and interior minister demanding the Hamas be labeled a terrorist organization.
"Hamas originated in Palestine as an Islamic resistance movement but turned into a terrorist organization," Sabry argued in his pleading. He added that Hamas currently has strong ties with the Muslim Brotherhood which is currently designated as a terrorist organization by the Egyptian government.
Sabry mentioned that Hamas members inflitrated Egyptian borders in 2008 and are accused of storming Egyptian prisons in 2011.
