Court extends detention of ‘Masr al-Arabia’ editor-in-chief for further 15 days

North Giza Court ordered on Tuesday the extension of the detention of editor-in-chief of the Masr al-Arabia news site Adel Sabri for a further 15 days over charges of administrating the website without a license.

The prosecution accused Sabri of joining the terrorist-listed Muslim Brotherhood group, promoting ideologies aiming to change the principles of the constitution through the site’s articles, caricatures and photos, in addition to broadcasting false news and statements that harm the public interest and incite demonstrations aimed to destabilize public security.

Sabri was arrested on April 1 over claims that Masr al-Arabia lacks proper licensing.
