Court adjourns trial of Morsy’s information minister

North Cairo Criminal Court adjourned on Sunday the trial of former Information Minister Salah Abdel Maqsoud and former head of broadcast engineering for the Radio and Television Union Amr Abdel Ghaffar Darweesh to 5 February.

The prosecutor had issued earlier an arrest warrant against Abdel Maqsoud, while Darweesh is detained pending investigation.

Both former officials are accused of squandering public money, willful and severe damage of public property, and taking advantage of their position after they allowed the use of six state-owned broadcast vehicles at Rabaa al-Adaweya sit-in.

The prosecutor also accused them of burning vehicles and stealing equipment, causing losses estimated at LE40 million.
