Court acquits 12 activists in March violence at Brotherhood HQ

The Cairo Criminal Court on Sunday acquitted 12 political activists who were charged of inciting violence last March outside the Muslim Brotherhood headquarters in Moqattam, East of Cairo.

The activists include Alaa Abdel Fattah, Ahmed Douma, and Nawara Negm.

The violence outside the Brotherhood’s influential Guidance Bureau left more than 130 injured. It followed a call by liberal opposition activists to stage demonstrations there in opposition to the Brotherhood's rule.

Clashes returned to the same area recently, after mass protests in demand of the removal of Brotherhood member Mohamed Morsy from the presidency. The latest encounters left at least eight dead. Several members of the Muslim Brotherhood have been interrogated in relation to the clashes.
