The Court of Cassation accepted the appeal and retrial of Mubarak-era business tycoon Ahmed Ezz and others in the case of squandering LE5 billion of public money in Dekhila steel company case.
The other defendants include former Minister Industry Ibrahim Salem Mohamadien, managing director of Dekhila steel company Alaa Saad Aboul khair, the financial management director Mostafa Kamel Briqa and Mohamed Ibrahim Zaafran.
In the first trial, Ezz was sentenced to 37 years in prison, and Aboul Khair to 16 years, while the rest of the defendants received verdicts ranging between one to five years.
