The Head of the Scientific Committee to Combat Coronavirus at Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population Hossam Hosni went into the nature of the common cold disease currently being spread across Egypt – and that the Coronavirus is not a thing of the past.
The common cold currently spreading is a natural thing that happens with the change of seasons every year, he assured, before and after Coronavirus.
He added that while the coronavirus is still present, but it is present in a less severe and powerful way compared to the past.
During a telephone interview with Al-Hadath Al-Youm channel, Hosni said currently there is a spread of a variety of seasonal viruses and not one type.
He pointed out that the symptoms associated with common cold include coughing and body aches, but does not pose a major risk to public health.
The Head of the Scientific Committee to Combat Coronavirus urged people to wear a facemask and avoid going out in case of infection, to limit the spread of viruses.
He said: “Wearing a mask is not shameful, I don’t know why in the culture of Egyptians the facemask is shameful.”
