Recent demands regarding Copts' rights were not linked to the New Year's Eve Alexandria church bombing that left 24 people dead and dozens injured, Minister for Legal Affairs Mufid Shehab said.
In an interview with Egyptian Television broadcast on Saturday, Shehab described the demands of Egyptian Copts as "traditional," adding that they have been the same since the beginning of the 19th century.
Coptic demands are being examined, he said, and "We will, God willing, respond to several of them in order to bolster solidarity between Muslims and Copts."
The minister added that Copts' demands are part of a more comprehensive political, economic and social reform process.
